Leg 2 Drops in the Super iDepression Recession Today

Chicago PMI dipped into contraction, printing at 49.7 on expectation of 52.8. But Obama said...confidence is up! No...prices are up, wages are down 8% and employment is flat.

Welcome to Stagflation and recession in the Obama Super iDepression! So we're back to where the recovery began. Pink slips are coming to millions, on top of 20 million under/unemployed in the US now.

The company I work for is already starting to let people go this week. In the next few months more and more companies will fire people. Obviously, Obama wants the layoffs to come after the election. How will this all play out? How bad will it get? I don't know. But these clearly wasn't much of a recovery in 2009 so we're going to go into recession that never cleared. Bernanke's magic was weak and ineffective. We're in uncharted territory from here on.

Super iDepression Recession

It's coming. EU recession, China growth declining and the coming Fiscal Cliff. Now comes the 13.2 % drop in durable goods. The largest since January 2009 when world trade had fallen off a cliff. I know. I'm just cynical, mean, dark, brooding and...frankly...boring. But right in the middle of the Super iDepression here comes another recession. All of the mathematically challenged, optimistic progressives will see the good news (until they get laid off). But it's coming, just peeking over the horizon, ready to rear it's ugly head. We might even get to glimpse the tail this time as we're all pulled over the cliff and into the chasm.

France wants to ban "mother" and "father" in all official documents to support queer marriage. Yeah, like queers have anything at all to do with children or families. US Economic Recovery?

The US may be poised on the brink of an energy renaissance that brings manufacturing jobs back from Asia. But those factory jobs won't be high paying jobs that bring a middle class lifestyle. By 2016 there will be a mere 7 cent wage difference between China and the US. But median US wages have plunged to 1993 levels. Wages are not going to rise with surplus labor in the millions.

Tacky Maobama

I've seen this before. The guy wearing the long leather coat, walking the factory floor selling fake Rolex watches cheap. He pulls out a wad of cash, usually dollar bills wrapped in a Franklin then flashes a mouth full of gold grill. Who's our long legged Mac Daddy in this photo? Morsi and the Salafist Nour Party Speaks

Muslim Brotherhood/Egyptian Morsi warns that the US must change "showing greater respect for its values and helping build a Palistinian state, if it hoped to overcome decades of pent-up anger." Further, the Salafist Nour Party calls for the UN to "criminalize contempt of Islam as a religion and its Prophet." 

So, by muslim reckoning, the US and the rest of the world must submit to islam by showing respect while islam can murder, maim and attack Christians, Jews, Sikhs, Buddhists and all other faiths? Thus muslims want equality while claiming superiority at the same time. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Well, contempt is sown by muslims so why should they expect any fruit but contempt at harvest. All that islam is is a bunch of bullys that bully everyone else. I despise bullys and will actively do everything I can to display my utter contempt for them.

But muslims are the absolute stupidest savages on the face of the earth. Unfortunately for everyone who is not a muslim, islam has anger as a core value. A muslim must be respected while pillaging, raping little girls (and ambassadors), murdering, enslaving and growing opium to poison mankind. All of that behavior seems angry. Submission to anger seems inhuman to most people. So respect is out of the question.

Equinox Musings 2012

The autumnal equinox arrives at the Bruig today, signaling the coming end of the natural world on Samhuin. All of the natural business of the northern hemisphere must be concluded over the next 39 days. If the Mayan calendar offers any truth, this may be the last full season of the age as some change is predicted on the Winter Solstice.

Fog and gloom, chilly rain and blustery winds greet us today. Tonight we'll see frost and an unusually low temperature of 36F. The garden is almost done, seared by summer heat now stunned by the sudden chill. I'll let it go in peace. It has suffered enough. I'll reload ammunition for whatever comes in the change and maybe have a fire to warm our souls this evening.

The virtual Bruig celebrates an anniversary today. I first blogged eight years ago today. It was a different world then but now has become a horror of an utterly failed economy, cesspool society, a police state ruled by marxist tyrants and incompetent MBA leadership.

During the last eight years, I've shared 1200 posts, some good, most mediocre and a few just mumblings. But I've shared the musings of a common aging man of the world that I lived in as best as I can.The blog has been viewed 34,600 times by diverse knowledge seekers, many looking for photos, some needing valuable information, others seeking cynical humor and those who just want to be aroused by bananas and Sarah's ass. But it's all for me really. I learned much over these last eight years. I can only hope that some of you have enjoyed coming to the Bruig.

Super iDepression Velocity of Money

The velocity of money in the US has crashed to a third of where it was in 2007, even lower than the Great Depression as of 2011. Money just isn't changing hands in this Super iDepression. With 20% of americans either unemployed or underemployed, and most other americans terrified that they're soon to lose their job who would spend money?

Meanwhile the Federal Reserve and government desperately try to prop up what's left of the economy with printed debt while hemorrhaging dollars to pay for foreign made goods.

As shown in the last chart segment of the Great Depression, this tendency could continue for the next seventeen years! Almost another generation. If the tendency even stabilizes at some level. And it hasn't yet.

Our children might never live in the middle class society that our generation grew up in and knew. The US could become a society like India where 70% of it's population consist of the poor, the poorer and the poorest. George is correct. Catatonic economy is the proper description.

If we can't improve the velocity of money in this country, america is finished.

Divisive and Dishonest

Mort Zuckerman at USN&WR writes that Obama's campaign is "divisive and dishonest" but Romney can overcome it. Well yes...and maybe. Obama only needs 39% of white voters to win. 31% of white voters would vote for Stalin! Romney needs 8% of "independent" white voters to win. Can he get that? Who knows.

Carnage at Camp Bastion

In the most destructive day on US aviation since the Vietnam war, 6 Marine Harriers were destroyed and 2 were seriously damaged. At about $27 million each that's $216 million dollars in damage inflicted by 15 Taliban sappers dressed in US Army fatigues. Two Marines were killed in action, the squadron commander and an electrical systems technician.

Half of the Marines Harriers in Afghanistan were destroyed and 7% of the total 120 Harriers that the Marines own were destroyed.

                              Camp Bastion wasn't any bastion at all.

What kind of security lets a squad and a half of Taliban on the airfield, with or without american uniforms? Broke through a wall? Not much of a "wall" if a blast can break it down. Pax Americana Era is over

Rosie sees the endless Fed QE!n as ineffective in doing it's job (reducing joblessness) but eventually owning everything! Equities will go up, commodities will go up...and inflation will go up. Net effect? None. The US economy has become total bullshit and lies.

Duh! There is no demand because there is no income. As american incomes decline YOY who can afford to buy cars, homes or endless consumer products. Most people are lucky to afford food and gas on top of monthly bills.

The one part of Rosie's comments that I have to disagree with is that he cites a lack of skills. I see tons of skills and skilled people in manufacturing. But...there are few jobs for skilled personnel, mainly because the jobs have moved to Asia.

Obama's ambassador and three others are dead in the planned attack in Libya that was known to the State Department  48 hours beforehand. This morning I drove over an interstate bridge festooned with US flags put up by patriots to honor 911. Less than 100 yards down the road I pulled in to a convenience store where a muslim took off his shoes and got on his knees to pray on the filthy store stoop. CAIR says that "American Muslims live in fear 11 years after 9/11". I didn't see fear. Instead the motherfucker just celebrated right in front of me.

No Hope

581,000 people left the workforce in August 2012. If this tendency persists, less than 49% of the workforce will be working by 2016 and less than 33% by 2022 as calculated from BLS data by ZH. And...americans will have no one to blame but themselves.

Here We Go Again

Last week a half dozen former Delphi workers, all over 60, had an informal discussion. A chief engineer, three engineers, a production manager and a facilities manager. All of us had landed at our recent employer within the last three years. The mood was grim as the employer is in deep trouble. I asked the question "Is this place going to make it?" Looking down, the production manager said "I dunno. It doesn't look good. The money runs out at the end of December." I asked "What are you guys going to do?" The chief engineer said "This is my last job." The others said "Me too" or nodded in agreement. I said "Same here."

About 270 years of experience amongst the six of us soon to disappear from the workforce...forever.  All of us gave it our best but there was no business model for success. All of that work went to Asia forever. The factory that we created for three years will never develop product and will likely be purchased at pennies on the dollar by Asians ...or just scrapped in place. All research and development and production will come from Asia.

In 2008, Delphi permanently laid off 600 salaried employees at one plant alone. 18,000 years of experience! All of that experience, as well as the work and GDP, went to Asia as well. America said "We're not going to do this ever again."

All of us wanted to work for another 4 or 5 years principally to have better pensions, social security benefits and health insurance. Instead we'll all retire with reduced pensions and social security while trying to find an insurance solution until Medicare is available. We'd all prefer to work but no one is going to hire a 60+ year old engineer or manager. It just doesn't happen even in a good economy.

So look for another half dozen old guys to disappear from the workforce, maybe go on disability, in the next few months. And no, none of us are making room for younger guys to take our places. The jobs will all go to Asia never to be a part of US GDP ever again.

Ruled by Kings

Influential people. I used to know a few people who could make things happen. Things like jobs, public policy or just people who could honestly answer simple questions. Not anymore. No one knows anything these days. Everything is fraught with uncertainty. Apparently anything is possible these days. And nothing is possible.

Once I had a pretty good idea who I needed to approach to gather information to make some specific thing happen. Usually an older person that would render useful advice or knew someone else that would be willing to help me. A simple phone call was all it took.

But in the age of voice mail, email and text messages most people just ignore or look, choosing then to ignore. People are just too busy and too uncertain to bother even trying to render assistance in this vertical power aggregated society that we live in today.

I see this every day. The manager who won't respond to communication because he needs to get permission from a director who, in turn, needs to get permission from a CEO to do some simple thing. No one will communicate so nothing happens. Tis better to maintain the status quo than do anything.

Then there's the case of the formerly powerful corporate director who lost her job, tried to find equivalent employment then took a job as a lackey at maybe 25% of her previous pay. She used to help people try to find work but gave up trying. I provided help for a couple years, now she won't even pick up the phone or respond to email to help my friend figure out what happened to his pension.

No one knows or even cares anymore. All power has flowed to the top. The bottom 99% may as well be ruled by kings as serfs.

No Men Wanted

A third of men are non-participants in the workforce. They've just quit looking for work and are either retiring, taking disability or living in boxes. The US has never seen anything like this ever before. Atlantic says it's because more women are in the workforce or social nets. Of course we know that women make as much or more than men/sarc off.

A whopping 89 million americans have dropped out of the workforce of 244 million.  But Clint gets it.

Wells Fargo forecloses on wrong home and trashes retired owners personal property. The couple didn't even have a mortgage. And the retired couple need to be compensated with milllions of dollars of Wells Fargo money. The problem is robo-signing because under Obama there is no law any more. ADP, always ahead of the BLS jobs report, is reporting 210,000 jobs added in August. But only 3000 of those jobs were manufacturing related. Who's adding 207,000 non-manufacturing jobs?

The DOW is up about 150 points this morning on this positive news that is perfectly correlated with the DNC. Ex-president Blowjob told us last night that The Choomer had laid the "foundation for a modern, more well-balanced economy that will produce millions of good, new jobs..over the next 20 years". That's vague. But apparently the DOW took that to the bank.

The government is the only thing we belong to? I'm not a subject nor am I property of anyone or anything. I don't belong to the government. I belong to God and then my family. Obama used economic weapons of mass destruction that will, unchecked, ruin your children's chance of opportunity.

The Empty Chair on Laborless Day

A pretty crummy Labor Day weekend here at the Bruig this year. Rain, rain and more rain interspersed with cloudiness. The drought has broke with 17.5 inches of rain for the growing season, but too late for corn and bean crops, as well as our garden. I've had better luck with vegetables in August, harvesting tomatoes, radishes and lettuce but grapes, strawberries and vine crops were a bust this season. Fall seems to be coming early this year with many leaves coming down and grapes maturing at least a month early. Pool temperatures have been in the upper 60s for a month. Not even the boy has any interest in swimming in the cool water. I'll be closing the pool this week.

There is no joy this Labor Day, no celebration for the working man. With a fifth of the workforce out of work or under-employed, making less each year as prices of everything increase, most of us are just getting by. We struggle in vain to maintain a middle class lifestyle that is slipping away as we feel shame because we just couldn't provide for our family the way we used to.

I used to feel pride as a working member of the american industrial complex that generated unprecedented wealth that was fairly shared throughout the economy. Now I'm ashamed as I watch american made equipment being shipped to China and Korea for use by slave labor to generate wealth for the few. Labor Day is a twisted joke foisted on american serfs.

I placed the empty chair in the front yard this morning that represents everything wrong with this country. The missing american leadership, the missing american presence on the world stage, the missing american workers and the missing american consent of the governed. Crony capitalism is rampant in this new world order, the chosen few winners amongst countless feudal serfs.

We own this country. But who are we? I don't know who the new we are? Are we a fat, stupid, greedy, entitled bunch of whoremongers who have surrendered our freedom to the government? Or are we a lean, creative, responsible and moral people that are free? We will learn the answer soon. Either way, there will be more pain and suffering. But hopefully someone responsible will sit in the now empty chair. Otherwise all american holidays will become meaningless shams just like the empty chair on Laborless Day.

Romney Gets It

The Russians are planning on deploying a half a dozen nuclear powered destroyers with space based defense capabilities. Their system, based upon the US SM-3 radars and missiles, aims to reach beyond US capabilities. The S-400 system exceeds reach of the SM-3 at 400 km traveling at 4.8 kps. The S-500 system is designed to be effective at hitting low earth targets at 500 km traveling at 7 kps, the fastest speeds of ICBMs. If successful, the Russians would be able to knock US ICBMs out of the sky at their highest trajectory in space. US nuclear deterrence would be check-mated.

Can the Russians pull this technological feat off? Hell if I know. The Russians have always been about primitive, brute force weapons systems and lies when they fail. But a Marxist US president could prove to be the difference if he guts US R&D by redistributing wealth away from weapons systems. The key point here is that the Cold War is alive and well, the US has enemies in Russia and China that are tyrannies and that human freedom is at risk. Romney gets it.
