Vikings

I know this. I've seen this before. This image is 1200 years old. This is an image of a Viking warrior carrying a woman over his shoulder, back to the boat for amusement. This is personal. The Viking warrior would claim his personal prize after slaughtering the men, plundering the place and setting it afire. All the better to invoke terror and dread in the next village down the coast. The message was clear, we're coming for you.

Only conversion to Christianity broke the Viking hold over Dark Age submission by humiliation.
