GPX, Comcast/Xfinity Remote Programming Fail

We bought the grandson a new GPX LCD TL1920B television for his birthday this month to go along with his new loft bed/desk unit. The LCD TV is lighter than the old CRT he had so it mounts higher, safer.I spent several hours this morning trying to program the COMCAST/XFINITY digital remote to control the TV. I tried the code then did a search for about 20 minutes. Nada. Epic fail. Finally I called COMCAST for code assistance. Fuggitaboutit! If code 10179 doesn't work then you can upgrade to the bigger box (at more cost per month) or use two remotes for volume and on/off operations. I asked if COMCAST was going to find out the correct code and they said "no". They "don't support all televisions".

I'm not happy with either of these companies. Most of the televisions made are connected to cable. Why can't these companies figure out how to make them talk to deliver customer satisfaction. It can't be difficult. Instead GPX makes a half-assed but cheap product while COMCAST rents a clunky interface.

I don't know where the fault lies in this clusterfuck but programming a remote should not be a problem. Hundreds of manufacturers have figured it out. Why can't GPX? And why can't COMCAST/XFINITY fix this to make their customers happy? Laziness? No profit in it?
