Something is rotten in america
Lately I've noted a stunning development that is just beyond comprehension.
I drive through one of the wealthiest communities in my state on the way to work every day. The cheapest homes go for $400,000, everyone drives a Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, et al and they look down their long patrician noses at me in my Buick driving through their Mexican slave manicured fantasyland.
Our state offers vanity license plates for those who must boost their egos by displaying their affiliations. There is a Career Professional Firefighter license plate which is quite popular with the unionized firefighters.
Lately I've been seeing Lexus, Mercedes and BMWs with Career Professional Firefighter vanity plates. WTF? Since when did an blue collar fireman start driving Mercedes? Do they all marry professional women who can afford to purchase these luxury automobiles? Or is it the $82000 annual salary of unionized firefighters that puts them behind the wheel of the BMW?
An engineer with 30 years experience is lucky to make $50,000 in this economy but we're paying fireman $82,000? Something is rotten in america these days.
