Healthcare and God's Plan

Modern health care is expensive. Perhaps medical technology has outstripped our ability to pay for it. In any event, america is torn to the solution.

The average individual health care policy runs about $600 per month with a $600 annual deductible. If all 300 million americans purchase health care insurance, that's $2.16T per year in health insurance costs as a nation. That's roughly 15% of national GDP. Sounds reasonable for the best quality care in the world.

But only half of americans work. The other half are too young, too old, too sick or just plain too lazy. So the burden of paying for health care falls on half of americans. But it gets worse. Of the half of americans that work, half don't make enough money nor is their work valuable enough to pay health care insurance premiums. So basically 1/4 of americans will have to foot the bill for all americans to get health care insurance.

So basically we're asking 25% of americans to pay $2400 per month for health care insurance to cover everyone in america. So take $28,800 per year from each of the upper 25% tax bracket income earners ($57,600 for a couple) and see what that does for the nation's economy. Try crash and burn!

The awful truth is that some of us just aren't worth enough to society to fix when we're sick. No one wants to hear that but it is just the truth. None of us want to hear that our labor isn't worth $36 per hour but we hear it quite often.

No one would spend $8000 fixing a wrecked 1990 Pontiac Grand Am that's worth $1500. Why would society spend $1,000,000 on a crack baby, the garbage man with cirrhosis of the liver, a shot up gang banger or an 84 year old woman with chronic congestive heart failure? You make them comfortable and let nature run it's course. Just as always been for 150,000 years of mankind. It's not cruel, it's God's plan.
