Friday Stuff

Gasoline prices and lack of parts from Japan may push the US deeper into the Depression as the year wears on. With gas prices at $4.00 per gallon, and still rising, people will cut back on spending AND everything that is bought and sold becomes more expensive due to transportation costs. The now shuttered but vast Japanese supply chain will slow down US manufacturing.

The US house passed the ten year, $6T spending cut bill, whose principle virtue is that it requires those younger than 55 to take health care vouchers in lieu of Medicare. Additionally, Medicaid and food stamps will become limited block grants for states who will have to make cuts to stay within their budgets (or not and speed into bankruptcy).

I don't think $600B per year will address the current $1.5T deficits, let alone the coming, staggering deficits as Treasury notes roll over as interest rates rise. The CON JOB is sweet for US plutocrats but it will mean permanent Depression for residents of North Mexico.

The property tax bill I've been waiting for arrived today. My rate went up 14% to pay GM's tax share that they refused to pay. Think I'll buy anything from GM or recommend their junk? As a matter of fact, I think we should not pave the road in front of their soon-to-close plant or provide fire protection.

GM is a zombie walking about thinking it is alive. It's dead and needs to be buried. Steering wheels fall off cars and even the Volt might burn your house down. And it's not Drudge's fault for reporting the news. GM management and the UAW are fools and idiots.

I started writing this blog principally about foreign policy related matters after 911. Back then, there actually was a US foreign policy. That's all gone under the Marxist-Democrat junta. Actually, US foreign policy has become UN foreign policy, which is, simply put, consolidate power for elites to loot the world.

I don't expect this to change even if the Marxist-Democrats are removed in 2012. History has direction and momentum over time, regardless or either parties or people in power. The days of great and principled nation-states are gone. We live in the new global-feudal world that siphons wealth from powerless global peasants.

My musings reflect the times, hence are mostly related to sad trivia.
